Chicago, St. Paul, Minneapolis, & Omaha Ry., Class "J" 2-8-2 #392

photo taken, St. Paul, Minn, Omaha Shops, 2/22/52, 2:50 P.M.

The 32 Omaha J's were basicly identical to the North-Western J's. About the only way one could tell the difference was by the number, (3 digit for the Omaha and 4 digit for the North-Western) and the fact that the Omaha cab windows did not have a horizontal cross bar. Like the North-Western J's and unlike the Omaha J-A's which were actually rebuilt from the J's, they had quill spoked drivers instead of Boxpoke and did not have an exhaust steam injector. Mechanical lubricators were common to all of Omaha's 2-8-2's
